Core Values and Stuff

Vision

A dynamic, cooperative society that supports open collaborations across cultural, geographic and occupational boundaries, allowing everyone to fully express their creative potential.

Mission

To generate and support innovative social projects by facilitating self-starters and early-stage collaborations of individuals, organizations and communities, by providing technological and administrative resources and associated coaching.

Core Values

Open Participation – to leverage the resources and perspectives of the local and global community

Transparency – between project contributors to increase cross cultural and understanding cross community understanding

Collaboration – fostering mutually beneficial relationships based on a paradigm of open cooperation

Philosophy

Kinyei seeks a new operational paradigm in the international development space by enabling volitional and informal connections between individuals, organizations and communities.

A major goal of all of our work is to find a new development paradigm free of the dysfunctional donor and beneficiary roles that structure traditional international development. These roles are problematic in that by identifying a beneficiary and donor in an asymmetric and specialized relationship, the human agency of the beneficiary is denied, the donor becomes a subject of an ossified social activity bound by limited participation and the relationship, now commodified, continues to suggest neocolonial attitudes even as it finds itself shelved as a peripheral, niche interest feature of modern life. Practical effects of this include reduced entrepreneurialism in developing countries associated with a sense of entitlement, increased opportunity for corruption, unsustainable funding models, reduced engagement from developed communities and a complete preclusion of individual creative engagement across community boundaries.

We aim to address this by opening channels of communication between and among communities, facilitating relationships which support creative enterprise and community-driven, emergent outcomes.

Kinyei is not in any way religiously or politically affiliated.
